The Styracosaurus

The Styracosaurus was created as part of a Level 4 university brief. The objective was to develop a dinosaur model and carry it through the full production pipeline, from initial sculpt to final render.

I began with a high-poly sculpt in ZBrush to refine the overall form and surface details. The model was then imported into Maya for retopology, where I created a clean low-poly version. In Substance Painter, I baked the high-poly maps onto the low-poly mesh to preserve the sculpted detail. I experimented with cavity maps, material layering, and hand-painting techniques to achieve a realistic and visually engaging texture for the Styracosaurus.

I gave the model a simple rig and basic animation in Maya before being brought into Unreal Engine for final rendering and presentation. The environment used for the final showcase is “Electric Dreams Environment,” developed by Epic Games.
